DURATIONS:

1-2 week

Industry:

Fashion

In this case study I’m going to articulate the process I took to redesign the landing page for the international fashion clothing brand, Zara. Below you will see the the steps I took to initiate the redesign and the logic behind each decision I made.

About Zara

Zara is an international fashion brand that was started by Amancio Ortego in central A Coruña, in Galicia, Spain in 1975. This company is one of the largest fashion companies in the world catering to men, women and children of all ages.

Why did I choose Zara?

  1. I have a passion for fashion and Zara is a well established, well known brand that produces quality products.

  2. I noticed that their site design quality does not align with what their company produces and needed to be improved.

  3. Their website did not meet WCAG standards so I felt that did not reflect their reputation of high caliber production.

Problem Statement

After researching other fashion company websites and looking over the current state of ZARA’s landing page there were many issues I noticed. The site as a whole did not meet WCAG standards and was a bit hard to navigate.

Lo-Fi Wireframes

Based on industry research and feedback from users who use the Zara website I created a design that was not only simple but be easy to use for people of all age groups. This design aligns with the WCAG standards and much easier to navigate giving users a painless experience compared to the current Zara landing page.

Original Landing Page

As you can see the links on this landing page are quite hard to find and see. While this current look may be aesthetically pleasing it does not follow WCAG standards.

Navigation tab is hardly even noticeable because its hidden behind the logo

Redesigned Landing Page

Unlike the original I moved the nav bar from the bottom to the top and placed it on top of a white background so that it's easier to see

I kept the full screen photo idea because it was a great concept to showcase some items
